Alabama’s Crisis Care System

Anthony Reynolds (ADM Crisis Care Project Director) discussed Alabama's crisis care system. All individuals (including people with ID/DD) can receive crisis services for triage and assessment, and further services if crisis is related to a mental illness or substance abuse diagnosis. If individuals with ID/DD are not being seen by crisis services he said he would like to be informed. His office # 334-242-3479 or cell # 334-301-7625.

Rate Study

Kathy Sawyer said they are waiting on HMA/Burns Associates for final report on recommended Rate Models after comments/discussions. No further updates.

HCBS Compliance

10 providers with 25 settings serving 82 people remain in non-compliance with HCBS Settings rule. Providers can reapply, decide to terminate contract, or no longer provider HCBS waiver Services and opt to provide "foster-home" like services at the state-match funding level. Individuals will have a choice to stay or move to another provider. ADMH advocacy will be involved to ensure individuals and their families receive education and understand the implications of this.

ADMH Certification

ADMH Certification division is trying to catch up on certification reviews. They are working on the upcoming quarter's schedule and Kathy Sawyer instructed Certification to inform providers as soon as possible when these reviews are scheduled.

Therap Discussion

Discussed Therap state-wide implementation. They are behind their proposed timeframe per the contract. The Commissioner has requested an explanation and updated implementation timeframe.
